Oh man.

I arrived from place where I work, and almost right after I arrived, I bathed. I was pretty dirty from working two shifts without bathing.

Why, you say?

Well... let me tell you why...

I got up, got dressed for work and went to work at 6 AM. That's usual for me, since I work at 7 am.

The weather were quiet, and the drive to work was uneventful.

At 9 AM it begins to rain, and all windows on one side gets wet, as usual since that side always gets lots of wind. But short time later, approx 10 AM, I glance at that windows and what do I see? A fancy wavy windows! I was kind of baffled. I went over and discovered that the rain covered it with water and it froze! That was when I found out that there's really bad ice rain storm at the city I'm working at.

At 3 PM I go to my car and confirmed the bad news. My car were liberally covered with ice! It's unbreakable. If I managed to free my car, I can't go anywhere anyway. The ice is EVERYWHERE! It's like someone made an ice sculpture out of place I work at.

Oh man. I got nothing to do till 7 am in morning. That's my next work shift. And it's 3 PM!

There was not a lot of things to do, but I went to historic computer area and played with an ancient computer. OH my mistake it's not a historic computer area. It's just old and crappy computer. In least it had windows 98 so it had free-cell.

Anyway after 2 hours or so, I went to my car again, to get my water bottles so I could have something to drink. It was HARD work chipping off enough ice to make trunk open. It was thirsty work. Anyway, when I got the bottles, I saw a book I had forgotten and left in my car trunk. Yes! Something to do!

Luckily, the place I work at is an assisted living apartment, so they had plenty of unused apartments. I took one, and got some sheets and blankets. Very slim pickings there, I have choice of a blanket that's 4' X 4' or a blanket ( or a scurf? ) that's 2 feet wide and 6 feet long. I simply grabbed both and used the 2 ft wide one to use as pillow, since they don't have any. The 4'X4' one was too small, so I used sheet to cover my legs and used that blanket for my torso. It sucked. I don't like sleeping anywhere but on my own bed, but I had to, or I would have lots of 'fun' trying to work while dead tired.

Well. The morning looked good, since ice outside was starting to melt without sun. After I finished work, the ice were kind of melted, so the roads were largely safe. My car still had lot of ice, however, so I had to clear front window ice, back window, side window, and went home. The parking lot were very icy, but I went dead slow to make sure no slippage happened.

Fun experience indeed. I hope that never happens again.

yikes.

i put up with enough of that for too many years.   ive lived in southern california so long that i no longer crack up when i see people runnin around in down-filled arctic wear when the temperature goes below 50 f. i dont think ill ever truly enjoy seeing snow on top of the mountains which are at least 70 miles away.

you have my sympathy.  as warm as that may be, youre still gonna need a propane torch to de-ice your car door locks.
