Misc blog.

I noticed it appearing once a while, but now it's getting worse and worse. It's time for the crackdown on the spam posts.

I notice that whatever the jerk is, he or she always uses OLD blogs to dump his or her crap in.

I hate those posts too... I've seen them... and they are... horrible. *shakes head*

Methinks a lot of folks have a 'blog cleanup' to do.

This latest barrage of spam has affected many blogs. ...What is with these losers?

Wow it's getting bad. It won't be long before one of my blogs is "infected".

Maybe it's time for Joeuser to kill anon posts. It's time to kill cowards anyway.

I noticed a trend in using old Mignuna blogs - there's at least 6 of them from the online poker link guy

I got spammed ages ago on my Kobe Bryant article. Back then I made a semi-humorous remark and left the offending post. If it ever happens again I'll immediately delete it.

Spammers suck.

I got hit a few months ago....I deleted them and blacklisted the offenders.

I hate to block anonomous users, but that's what it's going to have to come to.

I sort of spam. But I also respond peacefully and leave a good comment, with a polite asking them to visit my site if they have time. but I don't leave links like

MYSITE.COM
MYSITE.COM
MYSITE.COM
MYSITE.COM

do you guys think thats spam if you just leave a link along with a serious response and honest comment?Plus my sites free and isn't selling anything. Just a discussion forum.

I've seen some of this in comments as well. Perhaps it's time for JU to begin bannng these cretins.

I blocked anon users long ago. It's the only way to filter out the crap. If a regular user spams you, then Brad & Co. can actually take action against them.

Give someone online true anonimity, and they'll be complete dickwads

Capi - I think offering a link to a site *that offers information relevent to the current discussion* is just fine. I don't really approve of just pasting a link at the end of each post. I suppose it's alright on some forums, in your sig, but there aren't sigs here, and this isn't just a forum.
If people really liked what you were saying, they would go back to your blog page. And on your blog page, you could link to your site. Just my 2 cents.

As for the commercial spammers, I hope I won't have to deal with them. Is it against the terms of service for them to post? I would imagine it would be difficult to put in there... but if it is, you could report them to their ISPs, I suppose.

Capi - I think what you did to my post (copying it wholesale and then posting it intact under a topic on your own forum using my normal pseudonym) is pretty dodgy. Leaving a link I would consider fine, or linking to an argument elsewhere is also fine, but blatant copying of material like that is low.

But there is an upside to the poker spammer hitting the well-established blog sites. I got to read some of Mig's stuff that she had posted before I'd found Joeuser, so it wasn't that bad. But I hope Draginol or Karma IP bans the guy doing it, because the chance to pick up old material isn't entirely worth having this spam plague going around.

ohhhhh XX and trina, i want to kill it !

i blacklisted 5 seperate names so far, and it's still getting me. i clicked the 'username' last time and it linked to someone called "IrishNyberg", so i have just blacklisted that. hopefully that will stop it. i'm posting all my new stuff with 'regsitered users only' in the comments, but i can't seem to mark the others in 'bulk', and i've got 303 articles - i don't know where to go to stop it, i can't change them one by one.

i've started deleting the comments, but there's been about 30 so far, and every time i find one, another one appears. it's going months back through my blog.

anyway, thanks for your support with this, XX, both here and in my other articles .

No problem, hopefully that will help you.

I agree that linking to site is fine, as long it's related to the content.

I blocked anon users long ago. It's the only way to filter out the crap.

How? I couldn't find anything related to that. Of course, I could be bli9nd.

It's on the form you enter your articles into, at the top right of where you input your article and below "Select Your Viewing Audience."

It's on a strictly per article basis, though.

It has become increasingly common. One of the biggest problems I see is that even if we start making our articles for members/registered users only, they will continue to go back and get the old ones. It seems that those have been the targets so far. Hopefully it calms down.
